Derby were beaten 3-1 by Mansfield yesterday, as Frank Lampard’s side struggled in their pre-season friendly.
But Lawrence’s display did catch the eye, with the attacking midfielder featuring for over an hour.
Lawrence was brought to Derby last term, and didn’t quite have the influence many were expecting.
Although Lawrence did show flashes of quality, he never consistently became one of the top attackers in the Championship, as many had predicted.
Lampard will be hoping to bring the best out of Lawrence this season, who could form part of a seriously exciting Derby front line.
With Mason Mount and Harry Wilson added, Derby have some great creative options, and if Lawrence hits form, then they are sure to be a threat to defences across the division.
