Leeds United have been fined after sending a ‘spy’ to watch Derby County.
The Leeds United ‘Spygate’ saga appears to have been resolved.
BBC Sport reported Leeds have been handed a fine, with the EFL finding them guilty of breaking a rule to ‘treat teams in good faith’.
Derby cut short a training session in January ahead of the game with Leeds after noticing the team were being watched.
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa later admitted sending a spy to check out the Rams’ preparations.
There is no rule against spying, and the Leeds observer was said to have been on public land when he observed the session.
The EFL launched an investigation regardless, with Derby manager Frank Lampard furious.
Some pundits called for a points deduction, while Stuart Pearce even called for the game which Leeds won 2-0 to be replayed.
The fine should be the end of the matter unless Leeds contest it.
Some Derby fans are unhappy and believe the punishment should have been more severe.
