While Al-Hasawi remains in his role for now, he confirmed via Twitter that a deal to sell the club is imminent, and wished fans well for the future.
A statement on Forest’s official club website confirmed that the club are in a process of exclusive negotiations with a buyer, and work is ongoing to sell the club ‘as soon as possible’.
Al-Hasawi bought the club back in 2012, and has presided over a succession of managers, becoming as renowned as Leeds owner Massimo Cellino for his hire and fire approach.
His presence on social media has also made for run ins with fans of East Midlands rivals Derby County on occasion, with one instance reported on by the Nottingham Post last year.
