Patrick Bamford missed a number of guilt edge chances as Leeds United dropped points at home to Derby County on Saturday.
Derby County fans have hit out at Patrick Bamford for his performance during Leeds United’s 1-1 draw against Phillip Cocu’s side on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.
In a game that was dominated by the home team, Leeds took the lead in the first half, but in the second half, as they struggled to make their dominance count, Derby punished them.
Klich missed a second-half penalty when the scores were 1-0, with Bamford winning the penalty, as some Derby fans on Twitter feel the Leeds senior player dived for the spot-kick – nonetheless, the penalty was put wide.
As the game drew to a close, Derby began pushing higher up the pitch, taking more risks, as substitute Chris Martin netted from close-range to snatch a point for his team.
There were some Derby fans on Twitter who felt that Bamford’s greediness helped them to that point because he should have put a number of his guilt-edge chances away – he hit the post in the first half from close range and when put through on goal, he tried to dink the keeper but ended up putting his effort over the bar.
Added with that, others felt that Rams defender Richard Keogh bullied him during the game, as Bamford was substituted in the second-half for Eddie Nketiah.
Cocu’s side went into the match without a win since the opening day of the season and on the back of a bad run of results. But they picked up a much-needed point at Elland Road.
Leeds will now turn their attention to next Saturday where they will take on Lee Bowyer’s Charlton, as Marcelo Bielsa has a choice to make as to whether he selects Bamford from the off or not.
