In the current market, a player of Davies’ quality is worth considerably more than half a million pounds.
Davies boasts Premier League experience, and knows how to get promoted from the Championship.
The 32-year-old will considerably enhance Derby’s defensive options.
And, at the end of the season, it may be that Davies’ signing turns out to be the best one made by any Championship club this summer.
