Derby County face the daunting prospect of a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship tomorrow night.

Kevin Phillips assistant coach at Derby County looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Burton Albion at iPro Stadium on December 2, 2017 in Derby, England.

Derby County coach and long time Wolves nemesis Kevin Phillips offered high words of praise for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star, ahead of their huge Championship clash with the league leaders tomorrow night.

The Black Country outfit currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, with promotion back to the Premier League seemingly just a mere formality, whilst the Rams still have a lot of work to do just to secure their place in the play-off spots.

There will surely be a wonderful game of football on display at Molineux tomorrow night, with both teams in such desperate need of all three points, and the outcome of the match will go a long way to defining both sides’ respective campaigns.

Phillips, who made a habit of scoring against Wolves throughout his career, shared what has impressed him most about Nuno’s side this season, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:

DERBY, ENGLAND- October 29: Kevin Phillips, Assistant Coach at Derby County looks on before the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday at iPro Stadium on...

“Alongside Fulham, Wolves play some of the best football in the Championship, but the big thing for me this season is that when teams have gone physical against them, they’ve stood up to the task. Nuno has got some big, powerful players in that team, and they’re not afraid to mix it.”

The Rams currently sit three points clear of seventh placed Millwall, with a game in hand on Neil Harris’ side, and a win at Molineux tomorrow night could very well secure their place inside the play-off spots this season.

That will obviously be easier said than done, though, with Wolves looking to wrap up promotion back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
