Rams boss Steve McClaren spoke to the media during his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s huge game against the Villans tomorrow, and offered his full backing for under-fire Villa manager Steve Bruce, stating that he is definitely the man to take the Midlands outfit forward, as quoted by the club’s official website.
Derby head into tomorrow’s game at Villa Park in desperate need of all three points to help get their promotion challenge back on track, after going four Championship games without a win.
The hosts, meanwhile, are deeply embroiled in a relegation battle, and currently sit precariously in 17th position in the table, just six points clear of 22nd placed Wigan Athletic.
And McClaren leapt to the defence of his opposite number, when speaking to reporters, suggesting that he is absolutely the right man to take Aston Villa forward, as quoted by DCFC.co.uk:
“When you have spent that amount of money that’s what it brings, and it can be very difficult to turn it around. It is a season (for Villa) which a lot of people predicted but it is a massive club with great supporters, and individually they have signed some very, very good players. So, eventually they will get it right, and without a shadow of a doubt with Steve Bruce at the helm.”

Five of Villa’s next eight Championship games are at home, so they have a fantastic opportunity to build some momentum as they head into the final stages of their campaign.
And a win tomorrow against Steve McClaren’s men will be of paramount importance, if they are to climb their way clear of any kind of relegation trouble.
