Birmingham City’s season started to go wrong after they got rid of Gary Rowett.

Derby County manager Gary Rowett has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 12th May, that Harry Redknapp rang him up and asked him for help after taking over at Birmingham City.
Things started to go wrong for Birmingham this season following their dismissal of Rowett.
The Blues won just two of the 25 league matches which Giafranco Zola took charge of, and they required Redknapp to save them from the drop in the Championship.

Birmingham went into the last day of the season without knowing the division they would be playing in.
And Derby boss Rowett said that he was keen to help the Blues in any way, as he did not want to see them drop into League One.
“Harry Redknapp actually rang me when he went to Birmingham, because when he went there I said if he needed any opinion on any players just to let me know,” Rowett revealed.
“Of course, I wanted Birmingham to do well, and he rang me up and he just said ‘help!’
“He was brilliant and he’s a top manager.”

Thankfully for Birmingham, Redknapp’s appointment at St. Andrews paid off, with the 70-year-old boss guiding them to safety.
The Blues won their final two fixtures of the season – against Huddersfield Town and Bristol City – to confirm their survival.
Redknapp is now set to remain in charge of Birmingham for next season, with the Midlands club hoping to be challenging much higher up the Championship table.
