Chelsea will host Derby County in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Frank Lampard the manager of Derby County looks on during a pre-season friendly match between Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Pride Park on July 28, 2018 in Derby, England.

Derby County boss Frank Lampard has given his approval of Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and claims it will be a pleasure to go up against him in their upcoming Carabao Cup fourth round tie, dcfc.co.uk report.

“I think they’ve got a very good manager in Maurizio Sarri and I respect him. I had a conversation with him in pre-season and I think they’re in good hands with him as a manager. It will be a pleasure to go up against him personally and it will also be a pleasure to go back to Stamford Bridge,” Lampard said.

Lampard took over the managerial reigns at Pride Park in the summer and has already made a big impression on the club, with supporters happy with the eye-catching playing style and the progress of younger players.

The former England international guided the Rams to a penalty shootout victory over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at Old Trafford, and their reward is a trip to his old stomping ground Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is rightly considered a Chelsea legend among supporters in west London, and it seems the current Derby boss feels the Blues are on the right track under the popular Italian Sarri.

Chelsea have won five of their seven Premier League matches so far as they sit in third place in the table, and it appears the players are enjoying themselves under his guidance as they play more attractive football.

Sarri, formerly of Napoli, is renowned for his teams playing a high intensity attacking game, and Chelsea have shown glimpses of their potential with winger Eden Hazard playing at an incredibly high level right now.

Derby will need to bring their A game if they harbour hopes of springing another shock result, while Sarri may see the Carabao Cup as a good opportunity to land his first piece of silverware at the club.
