Derby County boss Philippe Cocu talks up Leeds.
Leeds host Derby this weekend looking to gain points on the Whites.
This is a big test for new Rams boss Philippe Cocu, and he has been talking up Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.
Cocu says he regards Leeds as one of the favourites to win promotion this season.
Leeds sit at the top of the table heading into the game, losing just once this season.
Cocu told Derby’s official website: “For me, they are one of the favourite teams to go for direct promotion this season. They kept the team together very well, have only made a few changes and you can see in the games how they play and the understanding in the team’s style of play.
“They have a very strong team and they are top of the league. It is a big game and a good test for us. I like playing the big games because you will see the most of your team.”
Derby have had a more mixed start to the campaign, sitting down in 19th place.
They have not won in the last five league games and need a spark to ignite their season.
An away win at Elland Road could provide it, but they will have to frustrate Leeds early. They can’t afford to concede an early goal and lift the Elland Road crowd.
