The Rams’ top scorer this term is out with a hip injury and Lampard is sweating on his fitness ahead of Friday’s trip to Elland Road.
Derby County manager Frank Lampard has stated that Harry Wilson is not guaranteed to be fit in time for Friday’s Championship trip to Leeds United.
The Rams leading scorer, on loan from Liverpool, has rendered himself virtually indispendable for the Pride Park side, having netted 10 goals so far this term in all competitions.
However, Wilson is currently out of action, having picked up a hip injury in the New Year’s Day draw with Middlesbrough.
The 21-year-old had to be substituted early in the second half, Tom Huddlestone taking the place of the Wales international, who missed out on Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Southampton in the FA Cup.
“Whether he is fit for Leeds is something to be assessed after Saturday, to be assessed daily,” the Rams boss told the Derby Telegraph.
“We have had a difficult half of the season because of the major injuries we have had, and now we have a few niggles. It is normal, we will have to deal with them.”
With starts in 19 of Derby’s last 20 games, including each of the last 15, and goals in two of his last three games, Lampard will want him raring to go against the division’s first-placed side, who in turn will be desperate to avoid a third straight defeat in the league.
The Rams, meanwhile, will be eager to pull further away from seventh-placed Nottingham Forest, currently on 39 points to their rivals’ 43, and with just eight points currently separating Derby from Leeds, there will be many more twists and turns to come this season.
