Derby, Fulham and Reading bosses among the Championship managers Crystal Palace could have considered instead of Roy Hodgson.

Crystal Palace are record breakers this season in the Premier League, but not ones they would want to be having become the first team in English top flight history to lose all six of their opening games without scoring a single goal.

Defeats in the first four cost Frank de Boer his job as manager having only been appointed over the summer, but things haven’t gone much better for his successor, Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson has lost 1-0 to Southampton and 5-0 to Manchester City so far and perhaps there were a few names in the Championship the Eagles should have considered as an alternative to the 70-year-old.

Has enjoyed success in English football having guided Watford to promotion to the top flight in 2014/15 and then taking Fulham into the playoffs last season.

Jokanovic has clearly caught a few eyes in the division above with his attacking football with the Express previously reporting West Ham United were interested and the 49-year-old is used to defying the odds from his time so far at Craven Cottage.

Now in his third job as a manager, Rowett perhaps received his biggest plaudits for taking Birmingham City from the brink of relegation to the cusp of the playoffs before new owners decided to sack him – to the shock of many.

Now at Derby County the 43-year-old is still considered one of the most exciting young coaches in the game, although critics would perhaps point to his lack of experience if he were considered for the Palace job.

Certainly well known as a player in the top tier of English football with Stam considered by many to be one of the greatest defenders the league has seen from his time with Manchester United.

The 45-year-old took his first managerial job at Reading last summer and guided them to the playoff final, losing out on promotion after a penalty shootout defeat to Huddersfield Town.
