Manchester United youngster Josh Harrop enjoyed a dream debut at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace.

Harrop scored the opening goal in a 2-0 victory, before Paul Pogba added a second.

The 21-year-old winger’s contribution caught the eye of former Liverpool under-23s boss Michael Beale, who took to Twitter to commend him, describing Harrop as a player he had always rated in opposition.

Harrop scored a hat-trick against Tottenham’s under-23 team earlier in the week, and was full of confidence heading into Sunday’s match.

It is unlikely he makes the squad for the Europa League final against Ajax but he has put himself in with a shout.

Harrop will have to continue to seize his chances by impressing in pre-season, especially as he is 21.

He is a late bloomer compared to fellow debutant Angel Gomes, 16, and will have to really kick on from here.
