Alan Hutton’s contract with Aston Villa officially expired at midnight on Sunday, as he is now being touted for a move across the Midlands to West Bromwich Albion.

Alan Hutton of Aston Villa applauds the supporters following the Sky Bet Championship game between Aston Villa and Norwich City at Villa Park on May 05, 2019 in Birmingham, England.

Alan Hutton recently left Aston Villa and the free agent is now looking for a club with Midland rivals West Bromwich Albion seemingly keen to take him on.

The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 59, June 30, 2019, have claimed that West Brom are interested in signing the 34-year-old this summer following his release from Villa.

Right-back Hutton faced Albion twice during the regular season – but when it came to the Championship play-off semi-finals, he wasn’t used at all by manager Dean Smith.

Hutton has previous with West Brom, and in 2015 when both sides were in the Premier League, he did something that both sets of fans will not forget.

The Scotland international Kung-Fu kicked then-Albion striker Saido Berahino in his midsection, but he wasn’t sent off for that challenge as Villa went on to win the game with Christian Benteke scoring a stoppage-time penalty.

Here is the kick from Hutton on Berahino under the lights at Villa Park four years ago:

Now, he could be staying in the Midlands area and heading towards Sandwell and playing for Albion, whose fans surely won’t be pleased with him potentially landing on their doorstep.

First and foremost, he is coming from Villa, and then there’s the fact that his performances last season went backwards at an alarming rate, especially during the winter period.

Either way, Hutton will always be remembered fondly by the Villa Park faithful, but Albion potentially replacing last season’s loanee Mason Holgate with Hutton will not sit well with their fans.
