Denmark kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Armenia in Copenhagen on Sunday evening.
Having missed out on qualification for Euro 2016, Denmark are looking to make an impact under new manager Age Hareide, and they got off to a great start against Armenia.
Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen takes a free kick
Tottenham star Christian Eriksen put Denmark in front after 17 minutes, placing the ball into the corner of the net after a smart backheel from Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer.
Fischer then won a penalty in the second half, and Eriksen stepped up to take it – but saw his effort saved by Arsen Beglaryan as the playmaker endured a hit-and-miss afternoon at the Parken Stadion.
That kind of summed up Eriksen’s start to the new Premier League season; as much as Eriksen has shown flashes of his best, he has largely been underwhelming so far, and Tottenham fans are desperate to see him rekindle his best form quickly.
With some recent uncertainty over his contract situation at White Hart Lane, there may be some explanation for his disappointing displays, but with the London Evening Standard reporting that a new deal is close, Spurs fans are seeing the positives from his display for Denmark.

Others think the confidence boost could be wiped out by his penalty miss, but after such a smart finish to win the game, Eriksen’s display has largely sparked optimism amongst Tottenham fans.
