Former Ajax teammate and Denmark international colleague Nicolai Boilesen has hailed the ‘divine talent’ of Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen.
Nicolai Boilesen has told Danish publication BT that he always expected Christian Eriksen to shine in the Premier League.
The pair spent many years playing alongside each other at Eredivisie outfit Ajax, with both graduating out of the famed academy system at the Dutch giants.
They have also competed together at international level, with Boilesen a left-back with 13 caps for Denmark and Eriksen up to 49 appearances for his country.
A parting of ways at club level arrived in the summer of 2013, with Tottenham Hotspur winning the race for Eriksen’s signature.
He has become a key figure at White Hart Lane, with his creative instincts and keen eye for goal making him an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
Eriksen has drawn widespread acclaim for his efforts in England, but Boilesen says he never expected anything less from a man he considers to be blessed with ‘divine talent’.
He told BT: “Christian has always made a lot of assists and played an important role for his team, but there were always those that questioned if he could reach the very top of the game. He is there now and I think we will see him become even better.
“When you have played with Christian in training and in as many matches as I have down the years, it comes as no surprise to see him setting the benchmark in the Premier League.
“He has always had a divine talent and has always been the best in training. Now he has brought that level to matches in the Premier League and it’s great to see.”

Eriksen has been Tottenham’s most productive attacking midfielder this season by some distance.
He has already bettered his Premier League goal return from 2013/14 and boasts an impressive pass completion rate.
Spurs may be looking for him to provide more assists, but they will have few complaints if he continues to take opportunities rather than create them.
