Tottenham Hotspur take on Sunderland today at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele
Tottenham’s Belgian midfielder Moussa Dembele has spoken to the club’s official website ahead of his side’s clash against struggling Sunderland today in the Premier League.
Spurs head into today’s game knowing that a win could take them to third in the table, which would be quite an accomplishment considering the criticism levelled at Mauricio Pochettino’s men for a perceived lack of intensity in their play so far this term.
Dembele, 29, has missed Tottenham’s last six league games after being banned at the end of last season for a clash with Chelsea’s Diego Costa, and his side have missed him immensely.
Dembele in action for Spurs
He returned to action in midweek, as a half-time substitute during Spurs 2-1 Champions League defeat to Monaco, and the club’s fans were delighted to see him back.
Speaking exclusively to tottenhamhotspur.com, Dembele discussed the threat posed from today’s opponents, highlighting two of his Belgium teammates as stand-out players:
“I haven’t had any conversations with them but I know they are very good players. Adnan can make the difference, Jason is a very good defender as well – they are young men but of course we want to win all our games and we have to win it this weekend.”
Sunderland’s Adnan Januzaj
Tottenham will want to bounce back immediately after their disappointing result in the week, and with Sunderland still looking for their first win of the season, it would seem to be an easy enough game on paper.
The Premier League is renowned for producing strange results, however, and if Spurs fail to impose themselves early in the game, any result is possible.
