Celtic’s Moussa Dembele celebrates scoring their fourth goal and completing his hat-trick
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted to the club’s official website that Moussa Dembele is not guaranteed a first team place, despite his Old Firm heroics.
The striker was the star of the show on Saturday afternoon as his side took on rivals Rangers at Celtic Park.
He scored a superb hat-trick, the first of his career, to help his side to a comprehensive 5-1 win over Mark Warburton’s side.
It was an impressive display, to say the least, and showed he could comfortably replace Leigh Griffiths in future.

But Rodgers comments following the game hint he is not guaranteed a first team place despite his derby heroics.
“When I first came in here we said we are trying to build a squad that is going to be able to compete in every competition,” he told the club’s official website.
“You can’t do that with one striker. But then you have to have quality. Moussa could play every week but I have to make the teamwork, the team has to work well. Sometimes he will play, sometimes he won’t.”

It will certainly be interesting to see which striker that Rodgers plans to go with moving forward.
Dembele proved his worth in this game, to say the least, but it would be cruel to drop Leigh Griffiths given the performances he has put in recent years.
It is a problem that many managers would love to have and it will be intriguing to see how the Hoops boss plans to solve it.
