Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins has proposed that Stephen A. Smith face Brian Windhorst in a future NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

DeMarcus Cousins introduced the idea while reflecting on the annual celebrity showcase, arguing that some of basketball’s most prominent analysts should experience the court firsthand.

He suggested the concept would not only entertain fans but also shift attention toward the media figures who frequently evaluate players.

Cousins calls on analysts to take the court

DeMarcus Cousins said the next edition of the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game should include well-known insiders instead of the usual mix of entertainers and personalities.

Appearing on the Run It Back podcast, Cousins explained how he envisions the matchup playing out. He identified Brian Windhorst and Stephen A. Smith as two individuals he would like to see suit up.

“That’s exactly the next celebrity game, that’s what we should do. We should have a guy like Brian Windhorst in a 12x jersey out there showing what type of athlete he is. I think that would be great for TV.”

“This is a chance to go show us how much of an athlete you are. Stephen A. Smith is another guy. Let’s get these guys in jerseys and let’s see what type of athletes you are. That would be must-watch TV. I would love to watch that.”

Former All-Star hints at role reversal

Cousins indicated that his suggestion reflects the broader relationship between players and the commentators who critique them.

He said he would be prepared to evaluate their performances in the same way athletes are regularly assessed.

“I’ll sit courtside with my book, with my little journal, and I’ll jot down notes of everything I think you need to work on. I’m gonna do everything y’all do to us.”

It remains uncertain whether Stephen A. Smith or Brian Windhorst would consider participating, but Cousins’ comments highlight the ongoing tension between NBA players and the media personalities who analyze their careers.
