‘He’s playing like Miguel Almiron‘ – those words echoed through the footballing world last season when Jack Grealish mocked the Newcastle United star during Manchester City’s trophy celebrations.
Fast forward to the present and the £100 million player is eating his words because, not only is Almiron banging in the goals, but he is outperforming Grealish himself.
On Sunday, he was on the scoresheet again as Newcastle secured a 2-1 win over Tottenham and Callum Wilson stated that his rejuvenated teammate is ‘on fire’, as he told his post-match interview.

That’s six goals in 12 Premier League matches for the 28-year-old – Grealish has only managed seven in all competitions from 50 games since moving to Manchester City.
Perhaps Grealish should call himself out and he might start performing because those words are haunting him and will continue to do so.
Nonetheless, Wilson, who opened the scoring against Tottenham on Sunday, spoke highly of his teammate and the improvement he has made to his game.
“We are so happy for him because he works so hard and he probably just needed to add goals and assists to his game this season he has done that,” said Wilson.
“Long may it continue for him. He is on fire at the moment. If he didn’t score (against Tottenham), then I was probably going to kill him, to be honest with you,” laughed Wilson.
“I was square for a tap-in, but it’s a great finish. He’s got some Goal of the Month contenders in there by himself, so we are delighted to have him and he is full of confidence, which is helping the team.”

NEWCASTLE UPSETTING THE APPLE CART
In recent years, the Premier League has only gone one way, with a certain six teams battling it out for the main European places.
Well, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have now entered the chat and they want to talk.
That win in north London over the weekend was a statement of intent and a sign that they aren’t just here to visit, but they are here to dominate and stay for good.
They are sitting in fourth place, with only one defeat to their name, and they will want to continue that form ahead of the visit of Aston Villa.
