Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Robbie Fowler has been discussing Mohamed Salah and his performances for Liverpool this season.

It doesn’t take a footballing genius to spot that Salah isn’t having his best season at Liverpool.

He’s scored just seven goals in the Premier League so far, and he doesn’t look like sparking into life anytime soon.

This comes just as Salah is about to break Fowler’s record for most goals in the Premier League for Liverpool, and Fowler says that from a selfish point of view, he’s quite happy to see Salah stalling this season.

Fowler quietly happy that Salah is struggling

Fowler spoke about the Egyptian chasing his record.

“Mo Salah is closing in, are you happy he’s having a bad season?” Fowler was asked.

“From an individual point of view, yes, I am delighted, but as a Liverpool fan no. Records are there to be broken and I want him to beat it because I want my team to win and win everything. From an individual selfish point of view I want him gone in the summer or the summer just gone because I didn’t want him to break my record,” Fowler said.

Delaying the inevitable

Fowler may be happy to still hold this record for Liverpool, but Salah’s recent struggles are simply delaying the inevitable.

He’s just three goals behind Fowler. If he hits any sort of form again, he’ll break that record within two months.

Of course, nothing is certain in football, but it’s hard to believe that Salah won’t score another three goals for Liverpool in the Premier League before his time at Anfield is up.
