Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy thinks Kieffer Moore would struggle to turn down a move to the Premier League if Wolverhampton Wanderers firm up their interest, as he told Wales Online

And how could blame Moore, really, if he jumped at a chance that might never come around again at the age of 29? Well, apart from a few rose-tinted Cardiff supporters of course.

The towering targetman has never played top-flight football before.

In truth, he’s never even come close, spending much of his career in the lower leagues with the likes of Yeovil Town, Ipswich, Rotherham United and Barnsley.

So while Moore probably wouldn’t start many games at Molineux – the 6ft 5ins centre-forward has penalty-box Plan B written all over him – a move to a club the size of Wolves at this stage of his career may be simply too good to turn down.

Is Kieffer Moore leaving Cardiff for Wolves?

“We’ve got a player that apparently loads of people want… but we’ve got four or five days left and I’ve not heard anything!,” former Wolves boss McCarthy said of a man who scored a career-best 20 league goals last season.

“I spoke to Kieffer the other night. Look, let’s be clear about it, if Kieffer gets a chance to play in the Premier League, he will want to do it.

“If he doesn’t there’ll be something wrong. If he didn’t, I wouldn’t want that type of player. You always want to be the best version of yourself you can be.

“If that happens, I would be absolutely devastated for me, the fans and the club. But I’d be delighted for him.

According to The Express, Wolves have identified Moore as one of their priority targets heading into the final few days of the transfer window.

Reports suggesting that the Wales international could be on the move for as little as £7 million certainly haven’t gone down well in South Wales, however, especially in an era where the likes of Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins have joined Premier League clubs for fees in excess of £20 million.
