Tottenham Hotspur were far from their best against Liverpool on Saturday night.

Dele Alli spoke to reporters after his side’s 2-0 Champions League final defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, and admitted that nobody really said anything in the dressing room in the aftermath of the game, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The final in a sweltering Madrid was a fairly drab spectacle, with neither side showing any real quality in their attacking play, but the Reds eventually prevailed, leaving the Spurs players heartbroken.
Tottenham will now have to recover quickly and go again next season.
Whilst they will be incredibly disappointed, their herculean efforts to actually reach the Champions League final in the first place must not be forgotten.
Dele spoke to reporters after the game in Madrid, and admitted that it was a fairly subdued atmosphere in the Tottenham dressing room as Liverpool lifted the trophy, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“It’s heart-breaking, no-one is really speaking. It’s time to reflect on what could have been. At the same time, and it’s difficult now, but we also have to look at how far we’ve come in reaching this final.”
Tottenham players must put Saturday’s defeat behind them quickly, recharge their batteries over the summer, and come back stronger next season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side do seem to be on the verge of achieving something very special, but the Argentine will surely have to bring in at least two top quality new signings this summer, if his side are to end their 11-year wait for a major trophy.
