‘Dele gone’: Tottenham fans react to transfer rumour from Newcastle last night

Jesse Lingard’s proposed move from Manchester United to Newcastle United is on the verge of collapse – and Tottenham fans think this is a good sign for them.

The Athletic report that Manchester United are asking for a loan fee Newcastle think is ‘unacceptable’ and, as a result, the deal is heading in the wrong direction.

There is talk that if Newcastle can’t sign Lingard, then they might try to bring Alli to the club instead.

Spurs fans are all for that and they have put forward their player’s name to head to St James’ Park amid the Lingard worries.

On Sunday, Antonio Conte left Alli out of his matchday squad that travelled to Stamford Bridge, even though the player was fit and available for selection.

The signs are pretty clear that Alli is no longer part of Conte’s plans and he needs to move on.

But, at this moment in time, he is still donning Tottenham colours, unless someone comes knocking for his goalscoring talents.

Given Newcastle’s troubles, and their financial power, it’s obvious that they would be a possible destination for the Englishman.

Well, if Lingard doesn’t head to the North East, then it probably increases Newcastle’s chances of signing Alli before the deadline.

On paper, it’s obvious that you would push for the Manchester United player over Alli because there is less risk.

Lingard did the business for West Ham last January by firing them to Europa League football, whilst Alli hasn’t had a consistent run of games or form at Spurs for years now.
