Spurs played their first Premier League game back at N17 on Wednesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has given his thoughts on what it felt like to finally play at the Premier League club’s new stadium, in particular the impressive acoustics within the arena.
One particular moment which impacted on the England ace was when he and his Spurs teammates were warming up and the South Stand began chanting ‘we’ve got Alli, Dele Alli, I just don’t think you understand…’.
Alli admits the noise of the chanting, which quickly spread all around the stadium, took him and his Tottenham teammates by surprise, to the point that they weren’t sure whether the volume was just because they were close or whether it genuinely was that loud.
“It was an unbelievable feeling, a moment I’ll never forget,” he told the official Spurs website. “Just how loud it was… it was scary! It was an amazing feeling.
“I didn’t know if it was that loud because of how close we were to the South Stand, or if it was just loud! We quickly confirmed it was ‘just loud’. “Yes, and as I said, it was an amazing feeling to be part of that.”

In terms of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium it’s finally all systems go, with both test events (the Under-18s game and the Legends exhibition match), the opening ceremony and first senior game having not only been ticked off but having gone incredibly smoothly.
Crystal Palace were Spurs’ first opponents back at N17 and Mauricio Pochettino’s charges successfully got through the occasion, beating the Eagles 2-0 thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen.
“It was an amazing experience and a night we’ll always remember,” added Alli. “The supporters were incredible but we all knew we still had a job to do. The main thing for us was to get the three points. It was the perfect way to cap a great day by getting that win.”
