Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in fifth spot in the Premier League table.
Tottenham star Dele Alli sat down for an exclusive interview with the London Evening Standard, and shared how all the focus on Manchester City and Liverpool could do Spurs a massive favour in this year’s Premier League title race.
The Lilywhites made a great start to their 2018/19 Premier League campaign, taking nine points from their first three games, including a magnificent away win at Manchester United.
Their good start was somewhat tarnished with a defeat away at Watford last weekend, however, and now questions are being asked again as to whether they are good enough to mount a sustained challenge for the league title.
Man City and Liverpool are the two clear favourites to win the league, but Dele explained how that could work in Tottenham’s favour, when speaking exclusively to the London Evening Standard:
“No matter what people are talking about, we have belief in ourselves. There are some great sides out there, but we have to focus on us. We don’t worry about what anyone else says. We’ll keep trying to get as many points as we can and if nobody else is talking about us as title contenders, it doesn’t bother me. It is a statement that we can win at places like United. We had belief we could do it.”
Next up for Spurs is a home game against Liverpool next weekend, and they will be desperate for all three points, after their disappointing showing at Vicarage Road last time out.
