Earlier today, Rooney, who joined Everton in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League rivals Manchester United, announced that he will no longer play for the England national football team, as reported by BBC Sport.
The 31-year-old, who has also operated as a midfielder, scored 53 goals in 119 appearances for the Three Lions, according to BBC Sport.
Tottenham midfielder Alli, who is 21 years of age and has scored two goals in 19 appearances for England so far in his career, has sent an emotional message to Rooney, with whom he played for the Three Lions.
Rooney failed to win any major trophy with England, but there is no doubt that he gave his all for the national team in each and every match he played.
Now that the Englishman has retired from international football, the 31-year-old will be able to focus more on his club career, and Everton fans should be delighted with his big decision.
