Harry Kane maintained his exceptional goalscoring record for Tottenham Hotspur against Arsenal tonight.
The Spurs hitman scored a first-half double in an emphatic 3-0 victory over their 10-man North London rivals as Antonio Conte’s side threw themselves a massive lifeline in the context of Champions League qualification.
Victory for Arsenal would’ve guaranteed them a spot in the Premier League’s top four and, with it, a long-awaited return to Europe’s elite competition.
But the Lilywhites were brilliant throughout and Kane – the most prolific goalscorer in North London derby history – kept up his record in this fixture by scoring his 12th and 13th goal against the Gunners.
Here’s how his former Tottenham teammate Dele Alli reacted to his heroics on Instagram during the first half.
Harry Kane record v Arsenal
The 28-year-old, lauded by Cesc Fabregas today, now has 13 goals in only 15 encounters against Arsenal.
He is certainly the man for the big occasion and you can’t blame Alli – now at Everton – for being awestruck by his mate’s performance.
Whether it was scoring or setting up chances, Arsenal simply couldn’t live with the Spurs talisman this evening and if Conte’s side to qualify for the Champions League, he’ll have a big say in it.
Tottenham are one point behind their North London rivals with two Premier League games to go, but the Lilywhites will move fourth if they beat Burnley on Sunday, with Mikel Arteta’s side visiting Newcastle United away on Monday night.
Arsenal were big favourites to secure a top-four finish but on the back of this, with Rob Holding sent off and Ben White clearly not quite 100 percent, it’s on a knife edge.
