Tottenham's Harry Winks celebrates scoring their first goal

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks ensured his full Premier League debut was a match to remember on Saturday, as he scored in the 3-2 victory against West Ham United, and his teammate Dele Alli seemingly predicted his rise to the top in a Twitter post four years earlier.

Writing on social media back in 2012, Alli – who was then on the books at MK Dons – said, “Follow my boy from Tottenham Harry Winks; England player and future baller.”

At the time Winks was only 16 and he could only dream of a place in the Tottenham first-team, but little did he know that he would one day be playing at White Hart Lane alongside Alli.

Winks scored the first equaliser against West Ham at the weekend, and although a late Harry Kane double stole the headlines, the midfielder’s performance did not go unnoticed.

He was composed throughout the second half in particular and on this evidence he and Alli will be playing far more together in the months to come.

Tottenham have a number of exciting midfield options available to them yet one wonders if it will be Alli and Winks who ultimately shine for both club and country.
