Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has told BBC Sport that he cost his side the opening goal against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Spurs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday evening.
All three goals in the London derby came in the second half.
Chelsea central defender Thiago Silva scored the opening goal with a header.
Spurs midfielder Alli was the one who was supposed to mark the Brazilian star.
The England international has admitted that he should have done better on the occasion.
Alli told BBC Sport: “Once we went 1-0 down to a sloppy goal – and for me, it was my man so I need to take responsibility for that – it’s a bit of a mountain against a team like this.”

Maturity
Alli did not have a good game against Chelsea.
In fairness, not many Tottenham players did well in the Premier League game.
It is really encouraging that the 25-year-old has taken responsibility for his mistake.
It shows Alli’s maturity and his willing to learn from his mistake.

Alli did start the season well, but the midfielder seems to be struggling of late.
Spurs as a team are not doing well at the moment, and head coach Nuno needs to get things back on track.
Of course, winning against Chelsea even at home is not easy, but Tottenham fans will be disappointed with the team’s performance in the second half.
