Moussa Dembele featured for Tottenham Hotspur against AS Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has told The Daily Mail that he and his teammates are happy to have Moussa Dembele back in the team.
Dembele has yet to feature in the Premier League due to suspension, but he played in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The 29-year-old midfielder did not start the Group E game at the Wembley Stadium in London, but he came on as a substitute for Son Heung-min at the half-time interval.
Alli has said that he and his Spurs teammate were happy with the return to action of Dembele.
“He’s a fantastic player,” Alli told The Daily Mail about Dembele. “There’s no doubt about that. He’s a brilliant player and we’re excited to have him back but Victor (Wanyama) has done really well since he’s come in and Eric (Dier) as well in centre midfield.
“With the amount of games we’ve got coming up it’s important to have a lot of depth in the squad and it’s good that he can come back and fight for his place in the team.”
Dembele is a very good midfielder, and his return to action on Wednesday evening is a major positive for Tottenham.
The Belgium international was hobbling as he left the stadium, according to The Daily Mail, but it has been reported that the 29-year-old should be available for the Premier League match against Sunderland this weekend.
Tottenham will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on struggling side Sunderland at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
