Liverpool have been disappointing in their last few games.

Quoted by the club’s official website, Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has claimed the Reds must show more respect until the final minutes of games.

The Reds have enjoyed a strong first half of the campaign and are currently among the teams challenging for the title.

Their style of play has been lauded by many, who see Liverpool as one of the best-attacking sides in the division under Jurgen Klopp.

However, recent weeks have seen them picking up disappointing results, with a loss to Bournemouth and home draw against West Ham United.

Some believe changes are needed, especially in defence, but Lovren says the biggest difference is the amount of respect they show.

“We showed in training sessions that everybody is hungry to get back to the top,” the club’s official website quotes him saying.

“Everything went well and then [we stumbled] but, like the manager said, we can’t forget what we’d done before these games.”

“We need to still keep playing our game and doing the same things but with a little bit more, I would say, respect to the end.”

While Lovren and especially Klopp claim that drastic changes are not needed, there is no denying that Liverpool must look to improve in defence.

They have the worst defensive record of all the top six teams and it is something that has cost them in games already.

Indeed, if it continues to be an issue over the busy December period, it would not be surprising to see Klopp changing his standpoint drastically.
