Ronny Deila has said on Open Goal that Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths needs to be consistent.

The former Celtic boss has raved about the Scotland international striker, and believes that the Celtic Park faithful love him.

Deila has also praised Celtic and Scotland international midfielder Callum McGregor, and is pleased to see his development.

Deila said about Griffiths and McGregor on Open Goal, as transcribed by The Scottish Sun: “Leigh is a fantastic player and finisher. He could score 40 goals every year but he isn’t consistent enough.

“He has had a few injuries and he had to take better care of himself. When he is fit then he is a top striker and the fans love him as he is a fighter.

“Callum had to develop but he has turned into a fantastic player. Technically he is very good, he understands the game and he is a team player, he can be proud of what he has become.”

As for McGregor, the 26-year-old has developed into one of the best midfielders in Scotland and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
