Jermain Defoe has claimed that Eric Dier’s passing range for Tottenham Hotspur is ‘unbelievable’.
Whilst everyone talks about the passing quality of Harry Kane, and rightly so, Defoe thinks there is another player on Tottenham’s books who can make the ball talk with his feet.
Dier’s form has picked up this season and the 28-year-old will be hoping he can return to England’s set-up before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
At his age, in his current form. If he misses out now, then it won’t look too good going forward and him returning to international football.
Defoe, who briefly shared the same pitch with Dier at England, praised the player for picking himself back up and stated what he was like in training, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.
“He’s back to his best,” said Defoe. “He said that he had a ‘difficult time’, but as players, you have to somehow get over it.
“I think the manager coming out and saying ‘he could be one of the best defenders in the world’. I think that does so much to a player.
“His passing range is unbelievable. When I got back into the England squad, he really impressed me with his passing. Technically, he is better than people think.
“He seems more confident again. More lean and it’s all good for Tottenham.”

Southgate surely can’t ignore Dier if he continues his current form and Spurs secure Champions League football.
Even he couldn’t argue about previously being left out because his form had dipped, all of which resulted in him watching Euro 2020 from afar.
But, things are starting to pick up under Antonio Conte, and those June fixtures are ones he has to target to get back into Southgate’s thoughts.
The introduction and form of Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace hasn’t helped because, at this moment in time, he is ahead of Dier in the pecking order.
