Tottenham Hotspur fans were mightly impressed with Sam Johnstone’s performance for England on Sunday.
In what was his debut for the Three Lions, the reported Tottenham target helped his country to a 1-0 win against Romania before their Euro 2020 opener this Sunday.
Just like at West Brom during the recently concluded season, Johnstone produced a stellar performance, including one from point-blank range in the second half.
And it certainly got the attention of the Spurs fans who were liking what they were seeing from the Manchester United academy product.
Given Albion’s relegation to the second tier, it means that Johnstone will be playing Championship football next season.
But surely a team from the Premier League will put the money on the table for him?
ESPN reported in May that the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United were interested in his shot-stopping talents.
And it seems as though if he does return to England’s top-tier then the Baggies would demand £18 million.
Either way, if it wasn’t for Jordan Pickford’s past performances for England and England only then Johnstone may well be donning the number one gloves for Euro 2020.
