Todd Cantwell has told Sky Sports Football (20/10/20) that the pressure has ‘definitely’ been lifted from his shoulders after weeks of speculation with Leeds.
He put on a Man of the Match display as Norwich beat Birmingham City 1-0 on Tuesday night in what was his first game back since those Leeds rumours.
The Press Association did report towards the end of September that Leeds were pushing for a move for the playmaker, but a transfer didn’t materialise.
Cantwell didn’t feature in a number of Daniel Farke’s matchday squads thereafter, but returned last night and gave his verdict on his performance and those rumours.
“It just felt I could have been out there all night and I wouldn’t have scored,” Cantwell told Sky Sports. “I am turning back in. I have to tune back up and get into the shape again and get those chances into the back of the net.
On feeling freer now that the pressure and speculation has been lifted: “Yes, definitely It’s exactly that. It’s what’s ahead.
“The most important thing is getting the results out here and making sure that we continue to dominate and hopefully get back to where we should be.”

Cantwell clearly didn’t put himself in the shop window enough during his side’s relegation from the Premier League even though his teammates – Jamal Lewis and Ben Godfrey – earned moves back to the top-flight.
It will be interesting to see if anything happens in regards to Cantwell’s future when the window re-opens once again in January, but a lot of that will surely be down to the individual.
If he puts the performances in and helps push Norwich up the table then he may find that a couple of Premier League sides will be willing to come knocking for his services.
