Jay Bothroyd has said on Twitter that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should not play Chelsea forward Kai Havertz as a striker.

The Guardian have reported that Arsenal are on the verge of signing Kai Havertz from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the Gunners will pay the Blues an initial transfer fee of £60 million.

Havetz himself is keen on a move to Arsenal and will undergo a medical soon, according to the report.

The German stars can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder.

The 24-year-old played mainly down the middle for Chelsea last season.

The Germany international scored seven goals and gave one assist in 30 Premier League starts for the Blues last season.

Former Arsenal prospect Bothroyd has said on Twitter that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would make a mistake if he played Havertz as a striker or as a wide player.

Arsenal will have a plan for Chelsea star Kai Havertz

In our opinion, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have a plan for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

Arsenal fans should trust Arteta and in the process.

Havertz is a very good attacking player, and his versatility would make Arsenal better and would give Arteta more options in attack.

Like most of us, Arteta will be aware that Havertz is not a natural striker, and the Spaniard is surely not going to play him ahead of Gabriel Jesus upfront.
