Harry Kane has shared that he is ‘definitely improving’ at Tottenham under Antonio Conte, as he told Sky Sports.

The Tottenham striker admitted, at the start of the season when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge, he ‘wasn’t reaching the standards’ that he knows that he is capable of hitting.

For large parts of the season, Kane has been the shadow of the player that was the Premier League’s top goalscorer and assist-maker last season.

Things have picked up of late, including his brace away at Manchester City, which was one of the best performances he has produced in his career.

As Tottenham chase Champions League football, even though it’s fading away from them, Kane shared how things have panned out for him this term.

“I am always the first to look at my own game and my own standards,” said Kane. “In the Premier League, the first few months, I wasn’t reaching the standards that I am usually reaching.

“It wasn’t a time to panic. It wasn’t a time to sulk. It was a time to work hard and improve.

“Since Antonio has come in, we have had a really good understanding with each other, with the way we have worked and trained.

“I think as a player, if you feel like you are improving under a coach, then that’s the most important thing – definitely feel like I am improving and the team is improving under Antonio. And that motivates you to do better.”

Many will question why Kane has been off it this season and the obvious of the well-documented drama that unfolded in the summer has to play a part.

It was pretty clear Manchester City wanted to purchase the England captain and he was keen on heading for the north London exit door.

Even his late arrival after England’s Euro 2020 heartbreak didn’t change matters for Kane, who had no pre-season and missed the first few matches of the campaign.

Come the summer, it’s going to be interesting whether Kane signs on the dotted line with Spurs or looks to move away again, even though Conte is now in the dugout.
