Well, Liverpool are reportedly interested in Ismaila Sarr…..again.
This isn’t the first time that Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for the Watford winger.
According to Corriere Dello Sport in Italy, Jurgen Klopp’s outfit are interested in the Senegal international.
And we already know that a certain Sadio Mane is a massive fan.
Speaking about his compatriot in August of 2019, Mane told the Athletic: “He’s rapid. I think defenders will struggle. Last time I was speaking to Robbo [Andy Robertson] I said ‘Watford have a really good player. I will need to help you more otherwise Ismaila Sarr will kill you, because he is a good dribbler and very, very fast.'”
Good signing?
Honestly, probably not.
Sarr is definitely a good player and Mane’s comments about him back that claim up emphatically.
However, this is Liverpool we’re talking about.
Being ‘good’ just isn’t enough and besides, the Reds would be signing him as Mohamed Salah’s replacement and 10 goals across 44 Premier League appearances isn’t all that stellar.
We say Salah’s replacement because Liverpool have already signed Luis Diaz, spending £49 million on him in January.
The Colombia international will be Mane’s long-term successor on the left-hand side of attack, meaning that Sarr, if he comes in, would be for the right-hand side i.e Salah’s area.
Being tricky and bullet-quick isn’t enough to get you a move to Liverpool, as Adama Traore proved.
So no, despite Mane’s comments, this wouldn’t be a brilliant addition.
