Alex Gogic has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he wants to play with Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty again.

Docherty came through the Hamilton Academical youth system and played professionally for them before moving to Rangers in January 2018.

The 23-year-old midfielder was sent out on loan to Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2018 for the 2018-19 campaign.

The former Scotland Under-21 international spent the second half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Hibernian.

It remains to be seen what Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has planned for Docherty, and whether the 23-year-old spends time on loan away from Ibrox yet again in 2020-21.

Gogic played with Docherty at Hamilton, and having joined Hibernian this summer, the 26-year-old defender has suggested that he would love to play alongside Docherty again at Easter Road.

Gogic told The Scottish Sun: “Greg is an amazing player. Playing with him again would be brilliant. He’s strong, a powerful runner, and I enjoyed playing with him when I came to Hamilton.

“Greg scoring in the play-offs is an amazing memory. I talk to him often and if he does decide to come back, I think that would be great for Hibs.

“We complement each other well in midfield. I don’t run forward as much, but I can cut out the other team’s attacks and give the ball to someone like Greg to use his pace to drive the team forward. That helps.”

Rangers stay or leave?

Docherty is a very promising midfielder, but he is 23 years of age now, and it is high time that he starts to make an impact at Rangers.

If the midfielder is to have a long-term future at Rangers, then a loan move away for next season would not be beneficial.
