Celtic defender Carl Starfelt doesn’t think Ange Postecoglou has said farewell amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur but Celtic defender Carl Starfelt doesn’t think he is leaving.

Celtic were in Scottish Cup final action on Saturday evening, taking on Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden Park.

Postecoglou and co put all the speculation behind them to claim a 3-1 victory, which was largely expected against the Scottish Championship side.

Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Jota were all on the scoresheet to help Celtic claim yet another trophy.

Postecoglou has now completed the treble, winning the Scottish Premiership, Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup this season.

The Australian has now won five trophies during his two-year spell at Celtic, which may come to an end in the near future.

Carl Starfelt doesn’t think Ange Postecoglou has said goodbye

Tottenham Hotspur have been very interested in landing Postecoglou as their new manager.

Reports from the London Evening Standard last week indicated that Tottenham would be making a move for Postecoglou.

Spurs didn’t want to ruin Celtic’s planning for the Scottish Cup final, but with that game now out of the way, an approach could be imminent.

Much of the post-match talk has been about Postecoglou’s future and Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has now spoken up.

Speaking to The Celtic Way, Starfelt opened up on Postecoglou’s post-match message with the Tottenham rumours impossible to ignore.

Starfelt praised Postecoglou as a ‘really good manager’ but ultimately has no idea what will happen with regards to his future.

The Swede added that Postecoglou spoke of how proud he is of his players, but his message didn’t sound at all like a farewell despite Tottenham’s interest.

“He is a really good manager and is really important for Celtic,” said Starfelt. “Whatever happens, I have no idea. We will just wait and see. I guess he is really proud of this season.”

“He said how proud he is of everyone: the staff, the players. That was the main message. If anyone knows how hard we’ve been working… it’s not only the games, it’s coming into training everyday with a big focus and desire.”

“Everyone sees the games but that’s what needed if you want to win things. He is really proud that we have won. ”No [it did not sound like farewell], absolutely not. But we will wait to see,” he added.
