The former Bolton Wanderers man made his third appearance for Queens Park Rangers Under-23s on Friday.

Could Alex Finney be Ian Holloway’s first signing back at Queens Park Rangers?

The six-foot-four centre-back was released by Bolton Wanderers in the summer, leaving him free to sign for another club outside of the transfer window.

He made his third appearance for the R’s development team on Friday afternoon, and was on the winning side despite Coventry City’s Under-23s taking a two-goal lead at Loftus Road.

Ebere Eze scored twice, either side of Axel Prohouly’s equaliser, to seal a 3-2 win for Paul Hall’s side.

Finney, 20, made two Championship and one EFL Cup appearance for Bolton, but is likely to be viewed as one for the future if he is to earn a full-time deal at QPR.

The west London side are expected to reappoint Holloway within the next 24 hours – a decade after his departure from Loftus Road.
