Steve Kean’s time is up- if a loss is what it takes for the owners to realise that- so be it.
The worst thing Blackburn could do in their crunch game tonight is win.
A comprehensive win would be terrible.
Why? Well as they say football’s a funny old game. A win tonight would only prolong Rovers’ fans agony.
Each time Steve Kean appears to be on the verge of the sack, he eeks out a job saving win, guaranteeing his position for at least another month.
The 4-3 win over Arsenal in September was a great day for Rovers’ fans, but looking back it probably would have been best if Arsenal had hammered them 5-0.
Since then – and before- the club has failed to produce any run of note, throwing away leads, and remain stuck in the drop zone with just 10 points.
He has only seven wins in 37 games.
Fans, newspapers, and pundits seem agreed that Kean is not the man for the job. He has had a year to prove himself, and results show he has fallen short.
A 4-0 loss to Bolton would do the trick.
Kean would surely be out and the club can make plans to bring in a new manager with half the season remaining and the transfer window open.
If Blackburn win, and win well, Kean may save his job convincing the Venky’s to keep him on, and more mediocrity will follow.
The problem is Bolton look even more incompetent at present, and Blackburn may sneak a win, which in the long term would please nobody. Except Steve Kean.
