Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce and Tony Bellew have been discussing Duncan Ferguson and his managerial ambitions.

Ferguson was, of course, on the Everton coaching staff for a number of years, but he left the club this summer in search of his first full-time managerial role.

Ferguson is yet to be appointed by any club, but both Allardyce and Bellew agree that he would be an asset to any team that want to take a gamble on him.

Interestingly, Allardyce stated that he believes that deep down inside, Ferguson harboured ambitions of managing Everton, but sadly, it wasn’t to be.

Ferguson wanted Everton

Allardyce and Bellew discussed Ferguson and his future in management.

“He’s so smart he’s tactically aware, Duncan is brilliant he really is, if he isn’t in management, he should be in the media, because he can explain things really well,” Bellew said.

“Yeah definitely yeah, I would hope he gets a job soon, deep down inside I think he was hoping that was going to be Everton, but it wasn’t to be so he had to leave and test the waters elsewhere,” Allardyce said.

Might get his chance

Ferguson didn’t get the Everton job this time around, but there’s reason to believe that he’ll get his opportunity one day.

Indeed, as a bona fide club legend, Ferguson will always be in the running whenever there’s a managerial vacancy at Goodison Park, and as recent years have shown, those vacancies do crop up quite often.

Frank Lampard’s future at the club is already being questioned and if the former Chelsea man does get the chop, perhaps that will be Ferguson’s big break.

Don’t be surprised if Big Dunc is in the dugout one day.
