Troy Deeney has said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One that Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is the replacement for Roberto Firmino at Anfield.
The Birmingham City striker made the comments about Gakpo while analysing his performance for Liverpool against Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Netherlands international forward scored two goals for the Reds.
Liverpool hammered their bitter rivals Manchester United 7-0.
BBC Sport reported last week that Firmino will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The Brazilian forward is out of contract at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners in the summer of 2022.
And he has reportedly decided to leave.

Troy Deeney on Cody Gakpo being Liverpool’s new Roberto Firmino
Deeney said: “I think with Gakpo going through the middle, he is now a new 2.0 Bobby Firmino, who has been great over the time.”
Top quality
In our view, Cody Gakpo had one of his best games for Liverpool since his move in January 2023.
The forward was at his elegant best and was a force to be reckoned with against Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Netherlands international took his two goals extremely well.
The Manchester United defenders simply could not cope with him.
Gakpo looked at ease playing against one of the biggest clubs in the world and did not get fazed by the occasion.
The forward thrived in front of a passionate Anfield crowd.
Robert Firmino has been superb for Liverpool over the years, and perhaps Gakpo could eventually become as good as him.
