Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has outlined to the club’s official website the importance of the fans in tonight’s game against Bayern Munich.

Brendan Rodgers’s side will take on Bayern at Celtic Park in Champions League Group H this evening.

The German giants will head into the match as favourites, and many will expect them to pick up all three points from the encounter this evening.

Bayern have one of the strongest teams in Europe and are one of the favourites for the Champions League.

The Hoops are going to find it hard to match Bayern this evening, but defender Boyata, who joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5 million, has outlined the importance of the fans.

Celtic Park will be packed tonight, and the supporters are going to play a key role in the team’s fortunes.

Celtic fans are known worldwide for making European nights special, and if Rodgers’s side are to register a shock result, then the supporters will have to be in loud voice from start to finish.

“We know how important the crowd can be with the noise and everything,” Boyata told Celtic’s official website.

“Playing at Celtic Park is like having a12th man and it is always good for us. We know how to deal with the pressure and it’s always a plus for us to play here.”
