Celtic defenders Dedryck Boyata speaks highly of teammate Kolo Toure with whom he played at Manchester City as well.

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has revealed to The Scottish Sun the help he has received from Kolo Toure.

Boyata is playing well for Celtic at the moment and seems to have established himself as an important player in the team.

The 26-year-old played with Toure at Manchester City and has disclosed the help the 35-year-old centre-back has given to him.

“When you are down you always have players who try to rally around you,” Boyata told The Scottish Sun. “Players like Kolo. Kolo is a very good person, a very important person in my life. Maybe you don’t know, but when I was at City he took care of me.

“I have played games with him before. When I was down he was always telling me ‘Don’t worry, you’ve just got to wait for your chance, when it comes just take it’. So that was what I did. Kolo is a special individual for me and he knows it — because I’ve told him before.”

Toure joined Celtic in the summer of 2016 after leaving Premier League club Liverpool at the end of the 2015-16 season.

The former Ivory Coast international centre-back has been a success at Celtic Park and has established himself as a key player for the Bhoys.

Boyata moved to Celtic from Premier League giants City in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be around £1.5 million.

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 61 points from 21 matches.

The Glasgow giants are 19 points clear of second-placed and Old Firm rivals Rangers and have a game in hand.
