Celtic won’t do a better deal this winter than getting Dedryck Boyata committed to an extension.

Unless it’s a very cruel prank, Dedryck Boyata may be about to sign a new deal with Celtic, if his Instagram activity is anything to go by.
The Celtic defender posted a photo of a white document resting on a desk, accompanied by a pen and a contract emoji.
Poor picture quality denies eagle-eyed Hoops fans from examining the text on said document, but it is being considered a cryptic hint over his future.
It could have absolutely nothing to do with a new contract but, considering his expires in 2019, the 27-year-old would have to be particularly heartless to purposely excite Celtic supporters by posting such pictures on social media if he had no intention of re-signing.
And if he does, it’s the best deal that the Parkhead club will do during the winter.
Boyata, who was denied a summer move away from Glasgow after a brilliant World Cup campaign with Belgium, is at the peak of his powers and what a massive boost it would be if Celtic got his best years.

No extension means that a January exit is likely, because the Bhoys, who turned down £9 million for him in the summer, won’t want to lose him on a free six months down the line.
As proven this season and in Russia, Boyata is an outstanding centre-back and one who Brendan Rodgers needs if he is to keep a resurgent Rangers at bay this season.
Forget about January additions; signing up Boyata would be by far the best possible deal that Rodgers could strike during the winter months.
