Celtic will be aiming to win the treble-treble when they take on Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.
Dedryck Boyata has stated in a blunt manner that Celtic have ‘done alright’ and admitted that their recently concluded campaign ‘wasn’t the best’.
On Sunday, the 2018/19 Scottish Premiership came to a close, with Celtic celebrating their title win in front of their supporters as they beat Hearts 2-1 at Parkhead.
Centre-back Boyata wasn’t part of that team that beat Hearts as Neil Lennon made a number of changes ahead of the Scottish Cup final.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (19/05/2019) after the match, Boyata honestly stated that the Bhoys didn’t perform at their best during this campaign.
On this season & the way Celtic have played: “We have done alright,” Boyata told Sky Sports Football. “This is now the eighth successive league with the team. We have worked very hard to be where we are right now.
“It’s not easy to do it, but we did it. The season wasn’t the best I’d say, but in the end, we managed to get what we wanted and right now I am trusting the guys will be able to do it again.”
Before the turn of the year, Celtic would have been looking over their shoulder in the Premiership title race because a number of teams were, at times, ahead of them or on their tails.
But since Scottish football returned from the midwinter break, Celtic have pushed towards their eighth title in a row, but they haven’t done it in a free-flowing manner.
They have had to deal with Brendan Rodgers leaving them for Leicester City in an abrupt manner, but that doesn’t cover up their, at times, poor performances.
