Dedryck Boyata has only started three matches for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side since the start of the campaign.
Dedryck Boyata admits that he has found things difficult at Celtic since the start of the season.
Boyata appeared to be heading towards the exit door at Parkhead after Brendan Rodgers was appointed, but a mini resurgence recently has led to suggestions that he could be set to stay with the Glasgow club.
The centre-back had played just once all season until this last week, but he has now started in Celtic’s last two matches.
The former Manchester City man was first given the nod in the cup against Albion Rovers, and he helped the Bhoys pick up a 3-0 victory.
Rodgers sung the praises of the 26-year-old after that match, and he kept Boyata in his starting line-up for last night’s league match against St. Johnstone.
Boyata repaid his manager’s faith by scoring the winner, in Celtic’s 1-0 victory over the Saints.
But the centre-back admits that he has not found it easy being out of Celtic’s plans for so long.
Boyata’s long-term future at Celtic still appears to be unclear, but he is certainly in Rodgers’ plans for the time being.
Celtic are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Hearts at Parkhead.
